Pune Slum rehabilitation scheme is likely to be showcased in international exhibition

Pune: From Oct 15 to 9th January the successful Pune slum rehabilitation work is likely to be showcased in international exhibition at the United Nation (UN) in New York. the Samithsonian Institution’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum has organized the exhibition. The slum rehabilitation scheme has been run under the Union Government’s surveillance Basic Services for the Urban Poor (BSUP) programme.
In a media conclave architect Prasanna Desai on Tuesday said that “The exhibition is titled ‘Design with other 90%: CITIES’. The BSUP project uses funds granted under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).” Desai added, under this scheme per unit of housing is Rs. 3L, of which 10% comes from the beneficiary, 50% from the Central government and 10% each from the corporation and the state government. This will help grade seven high density slum areas in Yerawada.
