Real estate brokers must be certified: NAR-India President

CHENNAI: To educate and facilitate real estate agents or brokers, National Association of Realtors (NAR) India has made the Membership Entrance Test (RE-MET) obligatory for all the members of associations. As association believes that this entrance test will be helpful to the brokers and realtors too as it will make them clear all the queries regarding the real estate subject.
In the next two day’s meeting of NAR-India in the coming July 23 & 24 in Hyderabad will be held with the agenda, “we want all the members to get cleared with the writing test” said Abdur Ravoof, president of NAR-India.
The national body has 1,200 members with 16 associations representing it. In Chennai, there are 73 members who are part of Chennai Real Estate Agents Association (CREAA).
According to the president of NRA-India Mr. Ravoof said that anyone can make their career in property business, but purpose of conducting this test is that just to increase the standard of industry and to educate brokers. He added that there will be 30 minutes online test is a multiple choice test, they will examine the knowledge on various subjects.
Passing marks will be 50% for the test, however if candidate is unable to meet the benchmark he or she will have more lifeline to clear the test. The question paper is totally based on the real estate related market related questions like how to value a property, measure a land and about property management.
According to reports approx 20 members of association have done with the test in Chennai, whereas Chennai is having 6000 nonunionized property agents.
