The Goa Real Estate Regulatory Authority (GoaRERA) is lagging behind in the registration of projects as well as registration of real estate agents. The site indicates that only four projects and six real estate agents have been registered so far with the state portal.
The authority’s website was launched in January and had set the deadline of 24th February for builders to register their projects.
GoaRERA to safeguard home buyers and ensure that projects and agents register with the state authority. Due, to this a vide circular notified by the authority stating that the date of registration is been extended.
The extension given under Section 59(1) of Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 read with Section (4) of Goa Real Estate (Regulation and Development) (Registration of Real Estate Projects, Registration of Real Estate agents, Rates of Interest and Disclosures on Website) Rules, 2017,
The authority said that ongoing Real Estate Project Registration under RERA has been extended till 23rd March without penalty.
Sudhir Mahajan, Secretary for Urban Development and Interim Authority for Goa, said in a circular that, “However, applications for registration can be uploaded till 31st March with the penalty of Rs.50,000.”
The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, came into force on 1 May 2016 and was notified in Goa in August 2016
