Residential Units for BPL in Punjab

Town-wise details of number of residential units sanctioned and under construction for urban poor, including BPL families in small towns, in the State of Punjab under Basic Services to Urban Poor (BSUP) and Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) components of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) are annexed.

Housing being a State subject, it is upto the concerned State Governments to identify the needy BPL families to be provided houses and take up housing programme for them. Under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) launched in December, 2005, Rs. 617.02 crore of Additional Central Assistance (ACA) has been allocated for the State of Punjab. Against this allocation, ACA of Rs. 69.92 crores has been committed leaving a balance of Rs. 547.10 crores. The commitment of this ACA balance will depend on submission of Detailed Project Reports by the State Government conforming to JNNURM guidelines.
