Residents of dilapidated bldgs. in Mira-Bhayandar will get transit homes on rental

cidco societyUnder Rental Housing scheme the Mira-Bhayandar Municipla Corporation (MBMC) has availed with 632 flats measuring 269 square feet, for people living in dilapidated structures as a transit homes to be utilized by them. These flats will be made available to them through applications on leave and license basis, MBMC has formed a five-member committee which will accept applications from people.

The committee will be headed by the deputy civic chief Dr. Sambhaji Panpatee, the five member committee will comprise city engineer Shivaki Barkund, executive engineer Deepak Khambit and social welfare officer, Deepali Powar. As per the disbursement norms set by the General Body, beneficiaries will have to pay a monthly rent of Rs 3,000 for which a three-year lease deed will be executed which can be extended for another two years. “It is a much needed relief for people who are rendered homeless. Accommodation will be provided till their original buildings are redeveloped or till they find other accommodations,” said MBMC Mayor Catlin Pereira.

There are around 3,800 flat located at Mira Road and Kashimira in nine different projects constructed by private developers, they will hand over the flats to MMRDA. Later ut of this total 1900 flats will be handed over to the MBMC, right now they have taken possession of 632 flats which will be used as transit homes for those people belonging to dilapidated structures in the twin-city that will be demolished.
