Sangli: Strict action against slums built on government land

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on October 24 said the state government has announced a fund of Rs 100 crores from Nagarothana scheme for Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal Corporation to implement basic facilities development scheme.

A detailed proposal should be submitted to the Government for the development work done by the city from this fund. The government will give immediate approval to this proposal. After this, additional funds would be made available to the corporation as well., CM added.

CM said in a review meeting of Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal Corporation in District Planning Committee House and several ministers and bureaucrats were also present.

“There are 52 slums in the municipal area if it’s on the government land, then the concerned department should lay the land brackets and the municipal corporation should take action against the construction for upcoming slums.” an official said.

CM said the corporation should make efforts for no dumping by 100% processing of solid waste. Also, emphasize the collection of waste. The corporation has prepared a detailed project report. With its effective implementation, it should take the necessary steps to make the city ideal for six months solid 100% processing. For this project, Solapur and Latur will survey the projects and prepare the project plan. Also, try to make a garbage-free city, he added.

In the Prime Minister’s housing scheme, the maximum benefit should be given to the needy, he said.

Initially, Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Khebudkar gave information about the development work of the city.
