Some slum areas in Ghatkopar to undergo for redevelopment

Housing Minister Prakash Mehta has taken the important decision to redevelop slum dwellers in Ghatkopar Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, Shantisagar Police Station and Kamraj Nagar on November 14.

“The area of Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar and Kamraj Nagar slum is around 155 acres and for many years, this slum rehabilitation problem was pending”, Mehta said.

Mehta was sepaking at a meeting organized in Ghatkopar Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar , Shantisagar Police Station and Kamraj Nagar slum rehabilitation camp.

“In 2007, during the Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, the question of the redevelopment of these slums was raised in the Legislative Assembly and later it was decided to develop through the township”, a source said.

Mehta directed the officials to discuss in detail with the developers about the current scheme of Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), the proposed township scheme and plans of government for the scheme.

After the feedback of the report is submitted, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will give the final nod for the development of Ramabai Nagar, Kamraj Nagar, he added.

Officials from BMC, MHADA and SRA were present at the meeting.
