Looking at the present situation and chaos of the Campa Cola Compound case the state government has constituted a 15 member committee of high level officials to study ways to regularize existing structures and prevent new ones from coming up. The committee will be headed by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sitaram Kunte has been asked to submit a report in the next two months detailing an effective mechanism to deal with existing illegal construction, measures to prevent such constructions and simplify the process.
The committee comprises the CIDCO director, the commissioners of Thane, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune Municipal Corporations and the director o the state urban development department. Chief Minister, Prithviraj Chavan said, there are thousands of illegal constructions in Thane and Mumbai and other big cities. He said that the government cannot form separate policies for every city though the dynamics differ in each.
