State govt to approve second phase of Pune metro services soon

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on December 19, 2016 said that his government is all set to green-lit the second phase of the Pune metro rail project.

Fadnavis said that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the first phase of metro in Pune on December 24, 2016, he along with his District Minister, Girish Bapat, would be mapping out the second phase.

He further added that the state government plans to incorporate the services of the metro with the buses of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd. (PMPML) so as to make commuting through public transport more prompt and accessible.

Speaking in an event organized to inaugurate V.D Savarkar’s memorial in Pune, the Chief Minister also promised multiple new metro routes and ensured his audience of his intention to convert Pune into a smart city.
