The civic body had recently launched an e-payment facility for property tax payers in the city
Residents will soon be able to get a receipt of their property tax payment on their smart phones and emails. The civic chief has introduced several initiatives to simplify the functioning of the department.
The civic body had recently launched an e-payment facility for property tax payers in the city. They will soon be able to receive the receipt on their phones or mails it. Official’s claims that in the past they had received many complaints from residents over using the system that often failed to generate receipts in case of disruption in internet connectivity. Often residents would end up paying taxes twice, thus inconveniencing them.
The new facility will alert tax payers after the payment is made. Registered users will have to link their e-mail id and mobile numbers with the system.
“The move is to ease the online payment process. We are working towards developing a system where the resident can pay their taxes sitting at home,” said a TMC official.
Besides this, those having any grievances or clarifications regarding their properties will now see speedier movement of their complaints. Also, structures that have been demolished will no longer get property tax documents.
