Eight cities of the States of North East including Sikkim are covered under Urban Infrastructure and Governance (UIG) of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM).
The number of cities covered under UIG of JNNURM is 65. All other cities are covered and eligible for assistance under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) of JNNURM.
A total of 21 projects on various admissible components have been approved for the eight cities of the States of North East under UIG Sub-Mission of JnNURM, out of which one project in the roads and transportation sector for the Mission city of Kohima in Nagaland has been reported physically complete. The remaining projects are at various stages of implementation
