Various projects to be set up in West Bengal’s Silicon Valley Hub by Infosys and Reliance Jio

The foundation stone of the Bengal Silicon Valley Hub was laid by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on August 13, 2018. It is to come up on 100 acres.

Moloy De, State chief secretary said that Reliance Industries’ chairman Mukesh Ambani’s would make an announcement at the last Bengal Global Business Summit, stating that Reliance Jio would set up a data centre on 40 acres inside the hub. Also, IT giant Infosys Ltd said it has started work on a new software development centre inside the hub.

According to the statement, It would spread over an area of 50 acres. Rs 100 crores will be invested by Infosys in the first phase of construction, which will ‘create employment for 1,000 engineers, initially’. From the date of obtaining all statutory clearances, the first phase of the project will be finished within a time period of 15 months.

“CM Banerjee said, West Bengal was an industry and technology-friendly state, with ‘one of the least attrition rates’, along with low operational costs. The West Bengal government has also collaborated with Amazon Internet Service and FujiSoft, for high-end IT solutions.” the state’s finance minister Amit Mitra said.
